  • $85,000 to Orange County Regional History Center to purchase a citrus label collection to combine with other citrus memorabilia as the Dr. P. Phillips Citrus Collection.
  • $205,000 total in three separate grants to Orlando Ballet to support the inaugural production of Holiday Triple Treat, to replace activity floors in two practice studios that were damaged by Hurricane Charley, and to support the inaugural production of The Nutcracker in Osceola County.
  • $257,875 to Orlando Museum of Art, Inc. to present the American Chronicles: The Art of Norman Rockwell exhibition from March 1 to May 26, 2008.
  • $331,922 total in three grants to the Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra to renovate the office, and rehearsal space, to add bathrooms and create a secure, temperature controlled music library, and to underwrite 2 special concerts held on January 20, 2007 featuring an internationally renowned artist/singer, Mr. Davis Gaines.
  • $2,500,000 to Orlando Performing Arts Center Corporation as the first payment on a pledge of $25 million dollars toward the construction of the Dr. P. Phillips Orlando Performing Arts Center.
Educational
  • $21,500 to Valencia Community College to draw matching dollars from state and federal sources for scholarships for students from Orange and Osceola Counties.
  • $25,000 to A Gift For Teaching to assist with the renovation of and relocation to a new warehouse.
  • $28,125 to MicheLee Puppets to launch Paginas Latinas, a new production in Spanish and English.
  • $43,161 to the Foundation for Osceola Education to fund a program for teacher recruitment and retention.
  • $67,000 total in three separate grants to Adult Literacy League to add staff and purchase specialized curriculum for learning disabilities, to provide staff and equipment for a Saturday School, and to revise their on-line volunteer tutor orientation, training, tutoring report, curriculum purchase and program evaluation process.
  • $136,815 to Central Florida Zoological Society to furnish and equip the new Wayne M. Densch Discovery Center and Zoolab.
  • 169,018 to Orlando Science Center to construct and equip an open physics lab for teachers and students.
  • $180,000 to Florida Southern College to add a Master’s Degree in Nursing Education in Lakeland and Orlando.
  • $210,000 in three separate grants to Junior Achievement of Central Florida to support programming in the central Florida schools.
  • $250,000 to Jewish Community Center to build a new pre-school center on their Southwest Orlando Campus.
  • $600,000 to University of Central Florida Foundation as two payments toward a $1.5 million grant toward the establishment of a medical school, turning out practicing physicians.
  • 1,500,001 to University of Central Florida Foundation as three payments toward a $2.5 million grant to underwrite the establishment of The Dr. P. Phillips School of Real Estate and endow the Howard Phillips Eminent Scholar Chair in Real Estate.

Health and Rehabilitative

  • $12,500 to the Center for Independent Living in Central Florida to assist with the purchase of a new telephone system.
  • $19,435 to the American Heart Association to purchase 13 automated external defibrillators to place in public buildings in Osceola County.
  • $29,647 to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society to launch a new program for families and children of persons diagnosed with MS called the MS Journey Club.
  • $50,000 to Epilepsy Association of Central Florida to purchase diagnostic testing for more than 40 new economically disadvantaged clients.
  • $57,613 to Seniors First to assist with the first six months of operating costs for their new medical equipment program.
  • 72,057 to Osceola Mental Health to relocate a modular building and renovate it to allow for the expansion of a Children’s Crisis Stabilization Unit.
  • 80,000 to Health Care Center For the Homeless to expand their Pediatric Services by hiring a full-time pediatrician.
  • $157,000 to Quest Inc. to re-roof their sheltered workshop in Apopka and add automatic doors on this facility and their group homes for the physically challenged who live and work there.
  • $400,000 to United Cerebral Palsy to assist with construction of a permanent Education Center facility in Pine Hills to be called the “Dr. P. Phillips Education Center.”
  • 596,207 total in two separate grants to Lakeside Behavioral Healthcare, Inc. to renovate duplexes at their residential plaza and connect to the sewer system.
  • $1 million to Florida Hospital Foundation to fund The Dr. P. Phillips Baby Place at Winter Park Memorial Hospital.
  • $3,968,656 total in multiple grants to Orlando Regional Healthcare System to support programming to prevent child abuse and to provide mental health counseling for children at the Howard Phillips Center For Children and Families, and to make two $500,000 payments on a pledge of $5 million associated with Dr. P. Phillips Hospital.

    Social Services

  • $16,000 to Housing and Neighborhood Development Services of Central Florida (HANDS) to develop a web-based directory for affordable housing.
  • $29,400 to Christian HELP Foundation to add a bilingual employment counselor.
  • $32,722 to the Florida United Methodist Children’s Home to add six new elements to their Therapeutic Ropes Course.
  • $36,720 to the Coalition for the Homeless of Central Florida as final payment on a three year grant totaling $133,680 to expand services to children living in their shelters.
  • $37,500 to Primrose Center to renovate their Cypress Group Home.
  • $43,230 to Harbor House, a Spouse Abuse shelter, to expand their volunteer recruitment program.
  • $47,000 to the 2-1-1 Community Resources at Heart of Florida United Way to staff a volunteer recruitment program for one year.
  • $48,725 in two separate grants to Intervention Services to assist with recruitment of additional foster homes for children and youth in Osceola County, and to provide the first payment of a two-year grant to support a full-time overnight supervisor for a residential program for youth aging out of foster care.
  • 62,280 to Community Service Center of Central Florida to assist foster care youth achieve independence as they age-out of the system.
  • $66,414 to Pathways Drop-In Center to assist with renovation and equipment purchase.
  • $75,000 to the Family Emergency Fund at Heart of Florida United Way to assist evacuees of 2005 hurricanes who relocated to Central Florida.
  • $91,000 total in two separate grants to Children’s Home Society to renovate and purchase new furnishings for the crisis nursery in Pine Hills and to train staff delivering services to children who are victims of --- or are at risk of --- abuse, neglect, or abandonment.
  • $95,000 to Goodwill Industries to create a self-sufficiency job training center in Osceola County.
  • $95,220 to the Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida to fund a new collection and delivery vehicle and additional driver position to expand their Second Helpings Program.
  • $101,492 to Legal Aid Society of Orange County to launch a program to assist teens in the foster care system to transition to independence.
  • 104,220 to BETA Center, Inc. as the second and third year payments on a three year grant totaling $173,500 to expand their counseling services.
  • $107,000 in two separate grants to Senior Resource Alliance to plan for and develop a service delivery system to serve a greater number of seniors in the future, and to establish an Aging Services Providers Academy that will expand the service options available to seniors and ensure the continued availability of services in Central Florida.
  • 187,800 to the Osceola County Council on Aging as payment to date on a matching grant of up to $500,000 for the central kitchen in their new senior center building.
  • 191,186 to Jewish Family Services of Greater Orlando to cover the costs of two years of a three year program to stabilize and assist low income working families.
  • $300,000 to Shepherd’s Promise as a bridge loan to purchase property from which to operate their programs with a pledge to forgive 50% of the loan when the balance of $150,000 is paid in full within three years.

Youth/Recreational

  • $22,000 to Central Florida Fellowship of Christian Athletes to fund summer camp scholarships.
  • $35,000 to Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Central Florida to expand their community mentoring program.
  • $75,000 to Girl Scouts of Citrus Council to construct three cabins at Mah-Kah-Wee Program Center.
  • $105,868 total in two grants to Boy Scouts of America, Central Florida Council to rebuild the waterfront dock and add two pavilions at Camp LaNoChe and to assist with the creation of an endowment the interest from which would be used for operating funds in the future.
  • $500,000 to Boys and Girls Clubs of Central Florida for capital project to replace the Pine Hills Branch facility.
  • $7,985,159 in multiple grants to the Central Florida YMCA to support SAFE START®, a water survival skills training for young children, and to assist with various capital projects including, but not limited to, the replacement of the South Orlando YMCA, the renovation and expansion of the Wayne Densch YMCA in Pine Hills, the addition of a zero depth teaching pool at the Dr. P. Phillips YMCA, and other capital improvements to various facilities.
