In addition to building a citrus empire, Doc Phillips also was active in real estate acquisition and development --- constructing buildings for lease throughout Central Florida. Recognizing that the citrus industry was seasonal, Doc's intent in investing in real estate was to provide year round jobs for his citrus workers. After selling the citrus business in 1954, he continued to build and lease commercial and industrial buildings for investment. What began as a sideline business eventually grew into the ownership and management of over 2.5 million square feet of rental properties with more than 300 tenants.
Today, Dr. Phillips Charities manages these real estate assets as part of our investment portfolio. The revenue generated by the rental income is used to support local charitable needs. Available properties range in size from 500 square feet to over 150,000 square feet and are suitable for various commercial requirements such as general office, retail, medical, flex-space, industrial and warehouse.
